Massage Therapy Modalites

Gua Sha Massage

Gua sha helps with pain, inflammation, and immune support. Gua sha is a hands-on treatment that has been used throughout Asia for centuries. “Gua” means to rub and “sha” refers to the little red dots called ‘petechiae’ that appear from the repeated strokes on the skin. The red dots are transitory and therapeutic. Gua sha uses a smooth-edged instrument. The purpose of gua sha is to remove pathogenic blood stagnation from the body. Gua sha aims to move energy, known as qi or chi, around the body. One may immediately feel pain relief even before the session ends.

Deep Tissue Massage

Designed to apply pressure to layers of muscle, tendons and other tissues deep under the skin. It can be very effective in relieving problem areas and is highly therapeutic. Muscles easily become tense and deep tissue massage can relieve some chronic patterns of pain and tension, specifically in the back, shoulder and neck areas. Your massage will be tailored to what you want, proper pressure in the desired area, to ensure your massage provides the relief you are seeking. Gua Sha or Theragun may be tools suggested to achieve your desired results.

Lymph Drainage Massage

Lymphatic drainage massage, also known as manual lymphatic drainage, is a gentle form of massage used to relieve painful swelling (lymphedema) in your body from illness, injury, infections or surgery. Lymphedema happens when your tissues retain fluid left behind after your cardiovascular system sends blood to your tissues and organs. You may need to consult your doctor for clearance before we proceed.

Swedish Massage

The Swedish modality has one main focus: relaxation. However, through soft, long strokes and touches of effleurage, petrissage, friction and tapotement, Swedish is also relieves muscle tension, increasing blood flow to critical areas and breaking down scar tissue. You may request aspects of other modalities like Deep Tissue to be incorporated into your massage.

Pregnancy Massage

Therapy specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs, it is also called pre-natal massage. Nothing in the world can prepare a woman for the demands of pregnancy. The changes from head to toe that a woman must endure throughout pregnancy is incomparable to any other natural development. You are going to need help and you are going to need relief. We understand the delicate nature of pregnancy also requires great care and attention. We provide a face down cushion system for expecting mothers to increase their lower back relief.

Ayurveda Massage

The Ayurvedic practice of abhyanga, or oil massage, touts physical benefits like released muscle tension, lymphatic drainage, and more nourished skin from head to toe. It stands out from other massages due to its focus on the skin, rather than just the underlying muscles—from the oils used to the circulation-stimulating movements, it’s more like a facial massage for your whole body. Once you book your Ayurveda massage you will be directed to find out what your Dosha is.
